For
Otfried Preussler it goes without saying that the way from
Bethlehem to Egypt leads through the Kingdom of Bohemia.
On
its flight the Holy Family wanders at the same time through
the little “Great World Theatre” as it can be seen in the
traditional Bohemian nativity scenes – and this is described
with gorgeous baroque abundance and joy in the details of
everyday life in Northern Bohemia, and now and then also with
a whimsical kind of humour.
